Temporary Church closure

Essex has now been placed into Tier 4 and whilst an exemption has been made for public worship in government regulations, government guidelines are that people should stay at home in Tier 4 areas. In light of this, we have been advised by the Church of England that it is up to each church to decide whether or not to open for public worship. We have prayed and thought carefully about this and have reluctantly come to the conclusion that it would be safer to close while we are in Tier 4. We will continue to review the position as guidelines change.

We have made available a recorded service of Nine Lessons and Carols which you can view on our Facebook page or on Vimeo.

We will not be able to make other online services available over the Christmas period, but Chelmsford Cathedral will be live streaming Midnight Communion on Christmas Eve at 5.30pm and Christmas Day Eucharist at 10.30am. These will both be available on the Cathedral Facebook page. You can find out more about Christmas worship from the Cathedral on the Cathedral website.
